Video or text • One stranger at a time • No sign-up
Meet on impulse, stay for the connection. UhmeCam puts one new person on your screen at a time. Pick Video if you want to see a face, or Text if you would rather type first.
31,260 online now. For text, switch to Text at the bottom of the match screen.

Around the world right now
Every conversation starts as a small surprise. Some people are up late, some are on a lunch break, and a few are on the sofa with nothing better to do. Look through who is around, open a profile you like, and send the first message.

It is a one-on-one conversation with someone you have never met, picked at random or chosen from the people online. You decide how much of yourself to bring: camera on, camera off and typing, or just your voice. Nothing to install, no account to set up first.
There are no rooms full of people talking over each other and no audience watching. One person appears, you say something, and the two of you see whether there is a conversation in it. Sometimes there is one for an hour. Sometimes it lasts eight seconds. Both are normal.
A random stranger chat is the purest version: you don't choose, chance does. The better places to chat with strangers all make leaving cost nothing, and that is the rule here too. On a phone, pin the site to your home screen and it opens full screen with its own icon. There is no store download and no update to wait for.
People open it for small reasons. A student waiting for a laundry cycle to finish. Someone on the sofa after a long shift who doesn't want to scroll alone. A person who just wants to hear an accent they have never heard before. None of them need a plan, only a few minutes and a bit of curiosity.
The people on the other side come from more than 50 countries, so the site rarely feels empty, whatever the hour. For the match screen, profiles and coins in detail, see how UhmeCam works.
Pick video when you want to read a face, and text when you want a slower, lower-stakes start. Neither is the better option. They suit different moods, different rooms and different days, and you can switch for the very next match.
On video you see the reaction before the words arrive, which makes flirting, joking and spotting boredom a lot easier. The cam chat guide covers light, sound and the first few seconds on camera. Text is kinder to a crowded bus, a sleeping flatmate or a bad hair day, and the random text chat page has lines that tend to get an answer.
| Video | Text | |
|---|---|---|
| What the other person gets | Your face, your voice and your room | Only the words you type |
| Good for | Reading a smile, a laugh, a reaction | Noisy places, late nights, shy first minutes |
| What to check first | Light in front of you, nothing personal behind you | Nothing, really. Just type |
| How it ends | Tap Next once it is active, or leave | Leave the chat, then press Start again |
Somewhere in between: the Audio mode on the match screen. You hear each other, nobody sees anybody.
In three taps. Open the match screen, choose Video or Text at the bottom, and press Start. Your browser asks for the camera once if you picked video. A random person is then connected to you, and the next move is simply saying hello.
Tap Start. On the match screen, the switch at the bottom decides whether your camera comes on or you type.
Someone new appears, picked at random. Say hi first. It takes the pressure off both of you.
Good conversation? Follow them so you can message later. Flat start? Move on to your next match.
Most matches connect within seconds, though at quiet hours it can take a little longer. If you picked video, the other person sees you as soon as the match connects, so check your frame before pressing Start rather than after.
A small thing that helps: say your first line within three seconds. People who wait to be spoken to often get skipped by someone doing the same. And if the first five matches are quiet, that is just chance, not a verdict on you.
Omegle closed in November 2023, and it had two doors: text and video. UhmeCam has no link to it, but it keeps both doors, and it lets you walk from one to the other with the same person, which the old site never did.
The text door works like this. Choose Text on the match screen and press Start. You're paired with one person and a private chat opens, the same kind of thread you would use with a friend. If the conversation goes nowhere, leave it and press Start again. If it goes somewhere, the buttons for a video or audio chat are right there in that thread.
The video door is the faster one. Choose Video, allow the camera, and a face appears. Next sits on the same screen and becomes active a moment after the call connects, so you can move on when a chat is not working.
So if a chat is good, tap Follow before you do anything else. That one habit is the real difference from the old random chat sites: the person you liked does not vanish when the window closes.
Plenty of sites like Omegle have come and gone since 2023, and most copied the video door only. If text was how you used to meet people, it is still here, and it still starts with one tap.
Coming back after a few years away? Start in text for a match or two, then try the camera. The anonymous chat guide explains what you share in each mode.
Yes. New users get free matches the moment they arrive, and the Reward Center at the top of the match screen gives out more free matches while you stay online, more than once a day. Once those are used up, extra matches cost coins. There is no subscription you have to take.
The Reward Center lives on the match screen itself, so you do not have to hunt for it. Check it when you arrive and again later in the evening; claiming takes a single tap.
A good way to use them: try one video match and one text match on your first evening. You will know within a few minutes which one suits you, and you will not have spent anything to find out.
Coins are bought inside the app, and the price is always on screen before you pay. VIP membership is optional and adds extras for a set period. If you only want to try a few conversations tonight and see whether you like it, the free matches are enough to find out.
What we will not tell you is that everything costs nothing, because it does not. Running live video for thousands of people costs money, and coins are how that gets paid for. The safety page also covers the money side: nobody you meet should ever ask you for any.
Skip “hi, how are you”. Everyone types it, and the answer is always “good, you?”. A question with a real answer gets a real reply. These six openers have one thing in common: the other person can answer them without thinking hard.
After that, listen for one detail and ask about it. They mention rain? Ask if it rains all the time there. They are eating? Ask what. Conversations with strangers die when both people wait for the other to carry them, so carry it for the first minute and see if they pick it up.
In a text match, the same rule applies with one twist: short messages win. Two lines on a phone screen read like a conversation; a paragraph reads like homework. Send one thought, wait for the reply, then add the next.
Some chats won't take, and you'll know within a minute. Say “nice meeting you”, move on, and don't read anything into it.
Where to go next
Curious why there are no group rooms? About UhmeCam explains why every chat has two people in it and which features we skipped on purpose.
Before your first chat
No, and it has no connection to it. If you miss Omegle's text mode, the nearest thing here is Text on the match screen: you're paired with one person and land in a private chat with them.
No. A guest session starts on your first visit, so you can press Start straight away. A display name or profile photo is something you can add later, or never.
Yes. A text match opens a private chat, and that chat has Video Chat and Audio Chat buttons at the bottom. If you both want to, you can move from typing to faces without starting over.
Your messages, your display name and whatever you have put on your profile. Your camera and microphone stay off unless you start a video or audio chat yourself.
The photos on this page are people who use UhmeCam, not a live feed. To see who is around at this moment, open the Online list.
It is free to start. Newcomers get free matches, and the Reward Center at the top of the match screen gives out more while you stay online, more than once a day. After that, extra matches use coins.
Their chat just ends and their match screen starts looking for someone new. There's no message telling them why, so a quick wave before you go is a kind touch.
Follow them while you are still chatting. They stay in your list, and from their profile you can message them or open a video chat another day.
Text messages can be translated automatically, so you read their words in your own language. Spoken audio and video aren't translated.
Yes. Tap Audio on the match screen for an audio chat with strangers. You hear each other and nobody is on camera.
From more than 50 countries. About one in five is in the US; the UK, Germany, Canada and France follow among the larger groups.
Start in Text. Nobody sees you, you can think before you answer, and if the chat clicks you can still switch to video from the same conversation.
Browser only, and that is on purpose. Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox all work on phones and laptops. Pin the site to your home screen for a one-tap icon.
Because both people are deciding in a few seconds whether to stay. When you are chatting with random strangers, that is normal and rarely personal. A specific first line, like a question about something you can see, keeps more chats going.
Ask where they are and what the weather is doing there. It sounds dull, but it always gets an answer, and the answer usually gives you the next question.
Yes. Scroll the short videos, or open the Live tab to watch streams. You can't broadcast yourself, but you can open the profile of anyone who catches your eye.
A connection starts with hello.
